I realized today that I must learn to play a harmonica.

Yes, realized, not decided.  Odd, yes?  I was driving to ye olde temp job, and suddenly it materialized in my brain: Harmonica.  Must learn harmonica.  Really learn it, not just make obnoxious noises like I did as a kid.

What does one need to know (and, gulp, how much money does one need) to buy a harmonica?

Apologies for the lack of crafting; the temp job’s taking it out of me, and I come home braindead (that might explain the Harmonica thing).  This weekend, however, will be a totally different beast.  Promise!

That’s one of the beauties of a harmonica, not a lot of investment, altho they can get pricey and you can carry them in your pocket. Good luck with that.

Great tute BTW on you weekend adventure. I was making a kilt so didn’t have a chance to do much more than scan your porgress.

The harmonica is incredibly easy to learn. Blow for one note, breathe in for the next working your way up the scale. Its really that simple but you have to remember that there are no sharps or flats unless they are in the key that harmonica is made in. I have a chromatic harmonica that you push in a button to change the key and a harmonica that has holes on both sides so its in the key of f on one side and the key of d on the other. Isn’t it amazing the random stuff we can dredge up from our childhoods given half a chance?
