Chronicle Books Haul-idays

11/13/2010

You all know Chronicle Books, right?  You should: they publish a massive selection of craft books.

They’re also having a little contest: bloggers who post a list of books they’d like, up to $500, win said books.

Crafty books haul? Count me in.

I have been a Sublime Stitching/Jenny Hart fan for ages (it was her work, in fact, that introduced me to embroidery), and would love to get my hands on her books, including Sublime Stitching and Embroidered Effects.  That’s $44.90 out of the total.

Along the same line, the only cross stitch I’ve ever done was one of Julie Jackson’s.  Her book, Subversive Cross stitch, might just inspire me further. That’s $44.90 + $14.95 = $59.85

On the business side of craft, Craft Inc is a fantastic guide to that weird, alien zone some of us creative types approach called “business” -I read it as a library book, but would love to have it around as a reference.  Chronicle also has a Craft Inc Business Planner to go with it!  We’re up to $93.75.

There’s Handmade Nation

and even a book which seems apt for me, titled World of Geekcraft.

There are tons of books for crafts I’ve never tried, but am interested in, such as:

The Illuminated Letter Kit

Paper Cutting

Pinhole Cameras

and Applique Your Way (okay, so I’ve done applique before… but not much).

We’re up to $228 now, and we haven’t even touched the cooking books.  What about Cake Pops, or Art of the Slow Cooker?

What about Zombies?

I would have so many reviews to write!

Funny thing is, all that only brings us up to around $300.  That’s okay, though, because I would fill the rest of the haul with duplicates of my favorites (first $200 of craft books, I’m looking at you) to give away here, to all you wonderful readers.  And even better? If I win, one commenter on this post will ALSO win the entire haul!

So hey, fingers crossed.  This haul could be for all of us.

Oh man! This almost makes me want to start up a blog just so I can enter myself! Chronicle books are fantastic, and so are their other items. I have a book title or two (and I have my eye on The Printmaking Bible), and a couple of their stamp sets- I am especially in love with my Eames chair stamp set (and may just have to grab the Pictorial Webster’s Stamp Set).

When I worked at a specialty toy store, one of the only perks was books at cost. I always stocked up on Chronicle Books. You’ve picked really great ones! I just read a review of their Indie Crafts book the other day, it looks pretty neat.

    Good luck!
